When a couple is plagued by negativity and strife or distance and seething silence, it can leave one or both partners feeling anxious, depressed and emotionally empty. Using the methods of John Gottman, Susan Johnson, Ellyn Bader, Peter Pearson, and Terence Real I strive to assist couples in creating a more loving and fulfilling relationship and home life. Together, we will identify the unproductive patterns or "dance" that can afflict even the best relationships. Together, we will work to change old patterns and create relationship where safety, loving attachment and attunement can thrive.
In session, couples will learn to:
- Nurture and strengthen their friendship
- Create a positive home environment and avoid "Negative Sentiment Override"
- Learn how to become a "Master Couple" rather than a "Disaster Couple."
- Understand the difference between "me-ness" and "we-ness"
- Keep romance and sexual connection alive
- Deal with the specific challenges of being a 21st century couple
- Create a relationship of shared meaning and a shared sense of purpose
My goal will be to help a couple move torward to a place of loving communication, purposefulness, resilence, acceptance, and renewed energy.
